IGNAZ NIEDRIST - alto adige

Ignaz Niedrist is often referred to as the magician of Alto Adige. Believe us when we say, his name is very fitting and his reputation is well deserved. He produces some of Italy’s finest white wines and his Pinot Noir delivers the best expression of the Burgundian grape varietal that the country has to offer.

The Niedrist family has owned its vineyards for nearly two centuries but it is Ignaz and his wife Elisabeth who brought the winery to new heights in the 1990s.

Minimalist intervention combined with meticulous standards are at the root of Ignaz’s practices. A simple walk in the estate’s vineyards and one can immediately understand the love, care and attention that Ignaz lends his vines. He believes that wines aren’t made in the cellar but rather in the vineyard. Located at roughly 600 metres above sea level, with a breathtaking view of the surrounding dolomites, we can understand why Ignaz spends so much time in the vineyards.

The estate currently counts 11 hectares of vines with an annual production of 50,000 bottles.

Allocations of Niedrist wines are extremely small and we couldn’t be prouder of being the estate’s exclusive importers in Quebec!
