Il borgo dei vettor - valdobbiadene

Located on the hill of Cartizze, the most prestigious Prosecco production area, il Borgo dei Vettor is a small family-run estate producing a mere 25,000 bottles per year since 1973. For nearly 50 years, its goal has been that of making pure, crisp and fruit-forward Proseccos that can be enjoyed on their own or with a variety of Italian dishes.

Low yields and minimalist intervention, in both the vineyard and the cellar, are two components at the core of their winemaking philosophy. They strive to produce some of Italy’s finest bubbles. To that avail, their Proseccos are without a doubt some of the best expressions of the appellation.

The 28-year-old, Riccardo Vettoretti is the estate’s manager and is one of the youngest winemakers in the Valdobbiadene. He is part of a new wave of winemakers focusing on the production of quality Prosecco rather than giving into the blitz of quantity production which had inundated the area for so long. Although all of the estate’s Proseccos are made in the Charmat method (fermented in tank), Riccardo wanted to pay tribute to the origins of Prosecco by making a “col fondo” version. As was the case for centuries, farmers in the Valdobbiadene would ferment their wine directly in the bottle and leave the lees in it, creating a sediment like substance at the bottom of the bottle. Il Borgo dei Vettor’s Crudo Frizzante is made exactly in this method.

These aren’t Proseccos that can solely be used for making Spritzs or mixing with other drinks. Their main purpose is to be enjoyed separately allowing one to appreciate their fine bubbles.

We are so proud to be il Borgo dei Vettor’s exclusive importers in the province of Quebec.
